Cardinal Hayes High School also introduced a companion program to the Academy Program entitled the Enrichment Program, which also offers small classes and support services to students who are admitted with the proviso that they participate in the specialized support offered by this program. As a comprehensive high school, these programs enable us the opportunity to serve even a wider range of learners. In addition, during this time, Cardinal Hayes High School introduced the 9th period class which gives students an opportunity to complete homework and study under the supervision of the faculty for one hour each day after school. These programs offer Hayesmen the best opportunity to reach their full academic potential.

The Guidance Department at Cardinal Hayes now employs the Naviance Program as part of the College Placement Services. Naviance offers state of the art software for the College Placement Counselor to use in the electronic application process. Cardinal Hayes high School has a full time College Advisor and boasts an outstanding record of college placement.
In 2011, Cardinal Hayes High School began the celebration of its 70th anniversary by inviting students from the now closed Rice High School. Students transferring from Rice High School were welcomed by the Hayes community and they quickly embraced the traditions and culture of Cardinal Hayes. The Rice students brought their special talents to Hayes and enriched the school. The yearlong celebration of the 70th anniversary was filled with special events that marked the magnificent achievements of Cardinal Hayes High School.
The school also marked the beginning of our Middle States Accreditation Process which ended with a school visit by the Accreditation Committee in the spring of 2012. That visit resulted in the school being granted Middle States Accreditation for a period of seven years. The Middle States Report spoke glowingly of the work being done every day at Cardinal Hayes High school.
Cardinal Hayes High School continues to have an excellent athletic program with outstanding programs in football, soccer, basketball, baseball and track. Our basketball program continues to be one of the top ranked programs in the city providing many of our player Division 1 collegiate scholarships. Several years ago Hayes introduced lacrosse as a varsity sport and the program has grown each year. A large number of students routinely are involved in our extensive athletic program.
In September 2013, Cardinal Hayes High School absorbed another large group of students from the now closed St. Agnes Boys High School. Those students like those from Rice High School were quickly and seamlessly absorbed into our student body and have also enriched our community of learners. As we approach our 75th Anniversary, Cardinal Hayes High School remains and promises to be a vibrant beacon of Catholic education in the South Bronx for decades to come.

The Mission of Cardinal Hayes High School, a community based in Roman Catholic values, is to inspire diverse young men of the New York City metropolitan area to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. We will accomplish this goal by encouraging students' spiritual and intellectual growth through a rigorous college preparatory program of academics, extra-curricular activities, and personal discipline.
