The instructional program at Cardinal Hayes High School is designed for each student to achieve their full academic potential. The program includes a wide variety of course offerings and five different academic tracks including Honors and Advanced Placement programs.
Regardless of the track in which a student is placed, all students engage in a college preparatory curriculum which includes the full range of coursework required for a Regents diploma under the guidelines of the New York State Department of Education. Every student’s program of study includes four years of Religion, four years of English, four years of Social Studies, four years of mathematics, three years of Science, two years of Foreign Language, four years of Physical Education, one year of Fine Arts and one half year of Health. All students are required to pass New York State Regents examinations to qualify for graduation.
Typically, students continue with further studies beyond these minimum requirements with elective courses and/or further study in various areas, so that students graduate from Cardinal Hayes High School with more than the minimum 22 high school credits required by New York State. All students are provided with the opportunity to earn an Advanced Regents Diploma. For decades, our rigorous academic program has prepared our graduates to excel at collegiate level studies.
