The Guidance Department assists all students in understanding themselves and the world around them. By helping students assess their abilities, aptitudes and interests, The Guidance Department helps them make the best possible personal and educational choices. Realistic goal setting and personal social development are pivotal aspects of the program. The Department also strives, through publications and meetings, to reach out to the parents and community with information and timely news. The Department is responsible for individual counseling, group guidance, group counseling and outside counseling. Parental interaction is essential and welcomed by The Guidance Department.
There is a full time counselor assigned to each academic year. The ninth grade counselor assists the ninth grade students with the sometimes difficult adaptation to high school. The senior counselor acts as an academic and personal counselor as well as a College Advisor. The Department is also staffed with a full time academic advisor who works with students experiencing difficulties in their studies. Two additional counselors made available through the ADAPP Program are additional valuable assets. The Department also has full time Guidance Secretary.
