Hayes offers many opportunities to form young men who are called as they stretch their minds, imaginations, feelings, and religious consciousness. Venerable Pierre Toussaint and Cardinal Patrick Hayes are known as the founders of Catholic Charities. Both of these icons provided concrete ways to serve others, particularly the oppressed and the marginalized. In essence, Hayes endeavors to make the corporal works of mercy found in Matthew 25 come to life.
Our efforts, many of them done in conjunction with the Environmental Club, The Exceptional Children’s Program, The National Honor Society and the Student Action Committee allow our young men to serve and to live out the Hayes motto, For God and Country. As we commit to causes and persons bigger then ourselves we discover new aspects of ourselves. Sometimes the best things we have are what we give away! As stated in the Saint Francis Prayer, “It is in giving that we receive.”
